Marley & Me

So I'm watching Marley & Me with Ammon tonight for a date, and of course I'm crying at the end (sorry to anyone who hasn't watched it) and Ammon looks over and says, "Mom, Why are you crying, don't you know this is fiction?"
Said by the boy who was astounded last week when I couldn't help him with his homework, I guess I should draw rhombuses, parallelograms and triangular prisms more often... Am I the only one who wonders what exactly it was that WE learned in school?
